Why 1999 Was the Best VMAs of All Time

This week we got word that *NSYNC would be reuniting at this weekend's MTV VMAs, and it got me thinking about the VMA show I remember the most: 1999. Chris Rock hosted, Smash Mouth and Blink-182 entertained during the preshow, Lauryn Hill was the queen of the moonmen, and Britney Spears joined *NSYNC for a medley of ". . . Baby One More Time" and "Tearin' Up My Heart." Fatboy Slim spun to "Praise You," Jay Z performed three of his hits, and the Beastie Boys took home the first-ever hip-hop award...
